Info &

Several months ago, we requested $550 sponsors to offset expenses to help bring the Food Finders Mobile Food Pantries truck more often than just 2-3 times a year. The good people of Tipton County responded so quickly with 12 sponsors in four days!  This really showed the power of Facebook as well as special coverage from the Kokomo Tribune and Tipton Tribune.

Assuming that only a few months would be covered, Food Finders was excited and surprised that every month of the 2017 was sponsored. We have since learned from Food Finders chief operating officer Kier Crites that it does cost Food Finders roughly $1,500 every time the truck goes out to a county. It is one of the most expensive programs for them to run, but it is also one of the most efficient in getting food distributed out into surrounding counties.

In response, the Foundation has established a grant relationship with Food Finders for the mobile pantries.  This grant will help to offset more of the expenses to bring food each month.  We are launching a second campaign to raise additional funds to be matched by the Foundation grant.

There have been as many as 158 families coming to the Food Finders Mobile Food Pantries! With the transition of the Marsh grocery store to the new owners, we anticipate more people will be coming to get food at the next couple of mobile food pantries. We are hopeful that you will help us spread the word. If you have any donors to suggest that we might reach out to, please contact me at lori@tiptoncf.org.

Food Finders has many programs and has sent appeals to their donor database.  If you have received any, these are sent directly from Food Finders.  Any local contributions can be sent payable to the Tipton County Foundation at PO Box 412, Tipton, IN 46072 with “Mobile Food Pantry” in the memo line, and we will pass them through to Food Finders.

Please read before arriving at the Mobile Pantry.
For the safety of our volunteers, clients and sponsors Food Finders has established the following policies:

  1. Sites will open 15 minutes before service begins. There is no benefit to arriving early. If you arrive before the site opens you will be asked to leave and return at the appropriate time.

  2. Clients must provide their own box or bag to carry food home in. Food Finders is not able provide carrying containers.

  3. No smoking within 50 feet of the food distribution. This includes while waiting in line to receive food.

  4. Obscene gestures or language will not be tolerated.

  5. Fighting or other aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.

  6. You may only go through the line and receive food once.

  7. You must leave the site once you receive food.

Any violation of these rules will result in the client being asked to leave the premises and/or local law enforcement will be notified.
Any threat to the safety of staff or volunteers will result in the mobile pantry being immediately closed and removed from the site.
Food Finders can only continue this program with everyone's cooperation. We appreciate your understanding.
